Onekawa Bible Church in Napier

I had the opportunity to preach at Onekawa Bible Church in Napier yesterday.  Pastor Phil Henderson was away ministering in Melbourne over the weekend, so I filled the pulpit for him.

Phil was called as Pastor of Onekawa Bible Church a year ago and God has blessed the ministry.  There seemed to be a real excitement as the people responded to the Word of God.  The congregation was engaged and ready to be challenged.  The worship was well lead from the piano by Dean Taylor.  The lunch that followed the service provided an opportunity for Christian fellowship.  People seemed to be ministering to each other, providing encouragement, and sharing their lives with each other.

I was overjoyed to see the numerical growth in the congregation.  The pews were full.  I joked with the church that they might need to think about extending the building or moving to a larger space.  What was intended to be a humorous statement was probably quite a realistic evaluation of a space issue which will soon need to be answered.  What a great problem to have!
